Spring Flower Festival in the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University
The festival was "opened" by colorful primroses - yellow, lilac, white, sky blue - graceful crocuses, corydalis, anemones and many other plants.
In the early days of May, tens of thousands came to replace primroses tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, fritillaria grouse and other bulbous plants.
Exotic and thermophilic bloom along with tulips magnolias.
Then, at the end of May, rare treelike buds reveal their huge buds peonies - their double flowers reach 20 cm in diameter and have a variety of colors, from pearl to dark purple, from lemon yellow to dark orange with a burgundy edging. Every year in the garden there are more and more varieties of these amazing plants.
Finally, spring in the garden ends with the lush flowering of rhododendrons. There is a whole collection in the garden, in which natural species are presented, including from different parts of Russia - from the Caucasus, from Baikal and from the Far East, and numerous varieties, including large-flowered and exceptionally winter-hardy hybrids of Finnish selection, reaching two meters in the garden heights.
Neither in Moscow, nor throughout Russia there is another such garden where one could see such a quantity and such a variety of natural primroses, bulbous and other spring plants. Come as a family, take a walk, watch, take pictures.
The garden and exhibition greenhouses are open daily from 10.00 to 20.00, and from May 9 - from 10.00 to 22.00.
On Mondays, greenhouses are closed.
